Futsal Update – u12s State Titles

By October 3, 2017 February 7th, 2018 Futsal

The u12s UNSW boys futsal team were a late inclusion into this year’s State Titles played at the Blacktown Leisure Centre on Saturday.

Mascot Vipers 2 UNSW 0

In the first game of the day, they played Mascot Vipers, a P1 club from Sydney. With the boys only coming together for two training sessions so far, and one player only arriving back in Australia this morning, it was going to be a tough task. Unfortunately, we lost this one, but they worked hard.

UNSW 2 Mountain Majik 2
Goals – Max Palma 2

Our second game had us up against another Sydney P1 club in Mountain Majik. Again, we started out slow, chasing the game and going down 0-2 before the break. However, a change in the way we defended allowed us to get on top in the 2nd half. Unfortunately, only enough for the draw. Max Palma becoming UNSW first goal scorer for futsal. Congratulations Max.

UNSW 8 Wagga City 2
Goals – Daniel Worthington 4, Max Palma 1, Anthony Angelone 1, Daniel Rulli 1, & Jack Palma 1.

Our third game was against a regional team from Wagga. In this game the boys were able string a lot more passes together with lovely one touch moves that led to goals, 4 actually! We were witness to a truly magical individual goal from Daniel Rulli as well.

Daniel Worthington gets the first hat-trick for UNSW futsal, congratulations Daniel.

Boomerangs FS 2 UNSW 2
Goals – Daniel Rulli 1, & an own goal

After a long wait for our last game in which the boys were able to have some lunch. We had to face off against the Boomerangs from Canberra, another P1 team. This was probably the fastest game from end to end, with attack after attack from both teams finally finishing in a draw.

I have mentioned a few individuals above for what were some our firsts for the UNSW futsal. My belief is that every player put in his best performance on the day & should feel very proud of their achievements today. Considering we have done this after only 2 training sessions, it looks like we might be in for a great season. Keep up the good work guys.

Special mention to all the parents who supported us. Especially for your support of myself and John Angelone, who took the team while David Palma & Renato were away finishing their coaching licences. Thanks to those guys too for the work they’ve put in at training.
